Tararua District

The Tararua Region extends from the ridges of the Ruahine and Tararua ranges to the shores of the Pacific.  Tararua includes the rural townships of Norsewood, Dannevirke, Woodville, Pahiatua, Eketahuna, Ballance and Pongaroa, as well as the coastal areas of Akitio and Herbertville.  The relative proximity of these towns to Palmerston North has resulted in more commuters taking advantage of the more affordable housing.

The region has vast development opportunities for the future.  From coastal developments in the many dramatic beach locations, where owning a holiday home is still affordable to the average New Zealander, to rural lifestyle sections overlooking the stunning views of the Ruahines and Tararuas.

The Tararua District Council reflects the helpful nature of the locals and encourages development through the guidelines of their District Plan.
